I’m M. A. McCormick, a writer and graduate student in English and Creative Writing. My fiction moves between literary, speculative, surreal, erotic, political, and genre-bending forms, usually without much concern for where one category is supposed to end and another begins.
The Mintyverse is home to finished fiction, experiments, fragments, and work that may not belong anywhere else. Some pieces began as assignments or exercises; others were written simply because they needed to exist. Together they form a record of the work and of the writer I was when I made it.
The Work
My fiction often wrestles with identity, power, grief, desire, violence, memory, and the strange machinery of being alive. I’m interested in people under pressure: what they become, what they hide, what they inherit, and what they refuse to surrender.
I do not treat genre as a cage. A story can be literary and speculative, political and intimate, grotesque and tender, erotic and existential. The border between categories is usually less interesting to me than the thing trying to crawl across it.
Position
I write against fascism, imperialism, and the colonial myths that shape Western society. I am interested in the stories systems tell to justify themselves, who gets the authority to define reality, and the people forced to survive inside those definitions.
That does not mean every piece here is a manifesto. Fiction still has to breathe. But the world is never neutral, and neither is storytelling.
